The story behind Dexas Holdem.
Dexas Holdem started as a frustration. I'd been hosting weekly home tournaments for years, and every Friday night involved the same dance — pulling up a timer on someone's phone, recalculating payouts on a napkin, arguing about whether AK beats QQ enough of the time to justify the call. The free tools were ugly and broken. The good tools wanted $30/month and a signup.
So I built one. Then another. Then a course. Then an AI dealer named Maya. Now it's a full suite — free, browser-based, no signup, no ads — used by hosts running home games from Brooklyn to Brisbane.
Dexas
Builds and maintains every tool on this site. Has been running a weekly Hold'em tournament since 2019 — about 300 sessions and 4,200 hands of dealing experience between work. Background in software. Believes the best poker content shows you the math, the tool, and the moment to use it — not 40 paragraphs of fluff before the answer.
What this site is
- A free tournament timer that's actually good on a phone, syncs across devices, and announces blind levels out loud.
- Free study tools — Monte Carlo equity calculator, Nash push/fold chart, ICM calculator, payout structures, pot-odds, variance simulator, hand-range visualizer, push/fold quiz trainer, MTT simulator, chip-race calculator, bankroll calculator.
- A free 8-chapter foundations course with interactive drills.
- Famous-hands replays with audio narration, where you can sit in the seat and make the decisions.
- An AI dealer (Maya) you can play heads-up push/fold against in your browser.
- A blog that prioritizes math and concrete examples over fluff.
What it isn't
- Not a real-money site. Nothing on this site is for cash play, and we don't link to or promote real-money poker rooms.
- Not affiliate-driven. No "best poker site" lists, no kickbacks. The only thing on offer is the lead-magnet playbook PDF — and that's free.
- Not for high-stakes pros. The audience is the home-game host, the weekend tournament player, the friend who wants to study but doesn't want a $50/mo subscription.
The mission
Make the math of poker — equity, pot odds, variance, ICM, Nash equilibrium — usable by the person who hosts a Friday night game in their kitchen. Free. No friction. No ads.
