How it works: Each curve preset uses a geometric distribution — payouts decay by a fixed ratio per place, then normalize to 100% of the prize pool. Top-heavy uses a 0.55 decay ratio; standard uses 0.65; flat uses 0.78; satellite gives every paid seat the same amount (with the smallest remainder going to the highest finish).

Conventions: Most live home tournaments pay the top 10-15% of the field. Online MTTs often pay 15-20%. Charity events and freerolls sometimes pay deeper for engagement. If you're running a league, consider a "min cash = 1.5× buy-in" rule — it keeps bubble play meaningful without making min-cash too disappointing.
